Post Incident and Pre Court Assessments
Restoring confidences in your driving abilities or proving reform to the courts

If you have been involved in a road traffic collision or any other incident while driving, this can leave lasting trauma and emotional scars which do not always fade away with time. This can lead to anxiety that can feel as overwhelming as the collision or incident itself.
You are not alone but so many people silently carry this burden, feeling isolated and misunderstood. We understand that when you get behind the wheel of a vehicle it can stir up emotions of panic and dread. This is very real and not everyone sees the distress and pain you are suffering.
Our goal at TFD Training is to rebuild your confidence, to give you a sense of safety by helping you at your own pace.
Our trainers are here to listen, understand and give reassurance to help you return to driving with that added confidence to deal with your apprehensions.
This is done by discussing how the incident happened, whether at fault or not, along with the drivers skills to create a plan to reduce the overall risk of the incident happening again. This in turn will support both business drivers and private drivers peace of mind when they are behind the wheel of their vehicles.
Business Clients
Employers have a responsibility as outlined in the HSENI's "Driving at Work - Northern Ireland An Employer’s Guide" which states you need to make sure it is carried out by someone who:
-
is competent to do so (has the right skills, knowledge and experience);
-
involves your workers in the process; and
-
understands when specialist help may be needed.
Risk assessment is about identifying and taking sensible measures to control the risks in your workplace, not about creating huge amounts of paperwork. The aim is to make the risk of someone being injured or killed as low as possible by following five key steps. See HSENI’s Five Steps to Risk Assessment, which is available via the following link: Five Steps to Risk Assessment.
Our workshop is ideal for businesses who have the following:
-
A policy in place to offer training and advice for all employees after a collision or incident.
-
Want to safeguard the safety and wellbeing of an employee when they return to driving.
-
Want to be proactive to the driver and business to prevent a reoccurrence of the incident and not put them at a greater risk in the future.
The longer the intervention is left, the less likely the drivers are to remember relevant facts from the incident. Therefore our highly trained coaches will act professionally and conduct the interview promptly after the incident, to glean an accurate picture of what happened.
What are the potential consequences?
Work related road safety should be a priority for organisations for legal, reputational, financial and efficiency reasons. If one of your employees is killed, for example, while driving for work and there is evidence that serious management failures resulted in a ‘gross breach of a relevant duty of care’, your company or organisation could be at risk of being prosecuted under the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007.
Private Customers
From a driver’s perspective this course is ideal if:
-
Confidence has been lost.
-
Discussing the incident with a professional to overcome any negative attitude or loss of confidence from the incident.
-
Mitigate any fears of driving, such as passing the scene of the incident, travelling on motorways, negotiating roundabouts or any other situation.
Post Collision Workshop Content
Each workshop is tailored to the individual driver whether it was a serious or minor collision and here are some of the key areas covered:
-
A conversation with the driver about the collision or incident and a visit to the scene if appropriate.
-
Working on the areas that may have contributed to the collision or incident.
-
Working with the driver to create a plan to prevent a reoccurrence.
-
Address areas that the driver finds most anger or anxiety provoking.
-
Developing a positive attitude to help regain confidence.
-
Reinforcing the skills for safer driving.
These is some of the areas that might be covered as there are no off the peg workshops to cover every incident.
This is not just a driving workshop as the trainer will explore the human factors of the driver by asking insightful questions such as:
-
How do you rate your driving.
-
Are you a confident or nervous driver.
-
Is your driving style ‘reactive’ or ‘proactive’.
-
What motivated you to do the training and what do you wish to achieve.
Everything that you discuss will provide stepping stones to improve your driving and help you through the training to achieve your personal goals.
