TFD Training helps a large range of drivers who need or wish to improve their level of skill and safety when driving. We already have helped people from a range of backgrounds and driving experiences, including:

  • Experienced drivers – This is for those who have been driving for many years and feel they have bad habits or just wish to become safer drivers and would benefit from a bespoke refresher course.

  • Drivers return to driving – This is for those who have taken a break from driving for whatever reason. It could have been forced, voluntary or for a long or short period of time and they need to boost their confidence or for returning to work so that they can again get behind the wheel.

  • Drivers returning to the UK – This is for those who have taken a break from driving in the UK from a period of time abroad, either for work or relocating to the UK and want to invest in getting their knowledge up to the required standard.

  • Post collision – This is for those who maybe have lost their confidence following a road traffic collision or just wish to have the skills to prevent a reoccurrence.

  • Anxious or nervous drivers - This is for those who maybe suffer from anxiety or nerves when driving on particular type of roads. The refresher training will help them to regain their confidence.

TFD Training can also offer specialist courses for particular drivers and vehicles with specific needs. Our trainers are highly experienced in delivering driver training to full licence holders as training a full licence holder is very different from coaching a learner.

Training is taken at a location and time that suits you and we will support you before, during and after the training. You will receive a post course report outlining what was covered over the full training session and with agreed areas that you may need to work on further.

We mostly provide training in your own vehicle as most prefer training in a car they are familiar with. We can supply a car, but may be an extra expense.

Session Content

The session is bespoke to each driver’s own needs, and we focus the following during the session:

  • Forward planning and observation.

  • Dealing with different road types.

  • Refresher on the Highway Code content.

  • A system to deal with all hazards however big or small.

  • Developing a positive attitude to driving, (What if?).

.

  • Understanding other road users.

  • How to manage speed.

  • How distractions can impact a driver.

  • New driving techniques such as ‘The Limit Point’ to help cornering techniques.

  • Hint and tips on how to perform manoeuvres safely.

On the day of the course, you will meet your tutor for an informal chat before the driving starts. We discuss your needs so to get a better understanding of you and how best we can help. We will focus mainly on the following during the session:

  • What you want to achieve from the training.

  • What are your main concerns.

  • How do you rate your driving.

  • What motivated you to complete this training.

The things you discuss here will form the pathway to improved driving confidence, which will be referred back to during your training.
